Eko Zu

"The SUBPAC hits you like a wall of dual18 subs on a festival dancefloor. You feel it in your bones, moving your body and morphing your music."

Q&A with Eko Zu about the SUBPAC:

What role does “feeling” play in the music you make and love?
For a song to be good, you always have to “feel” it. It needs to hit you on an emotional level that gives you goosebumps even when playing through laptop speakers. For a song to feel AMAZING, it needs to hit you physically as well, amplifying the emotional impact the music has that penetrates your body and pierces to your soul. This is why millions of fans every year go to festivals and concerts, for the
physical impact and feeling of unity with like-minded friends.

Has the SUBPAC changed the way you create, produce or mix music?
For EKO ZU, feeling our music emotionally and physically are equally important throughout the creation process. The song starts in headphones, laptop speakers, bluetooth speakers, any way possible to get the idea from inside our heads into the world. Read More...

Once there are signs of life, the SUBPAC allows us to FEEL how the song will hit on a massive festival or club system. We can dial in the details of how the bass will flow and evenly spread across the body. It enables us to UNIFY the emotional and physical DYNAMICS of the foundation (low end) of our music.

How could “physical audio” change our relationship to sound and music in the future?
The ability of feeling the physical impact of low frequencies from the comfort of your home or studio is unparalleled in music production. Studio subs have come a long way but are nowhere near the dynamic power of festival and club sound systems. Tactile audio will play a huge factor in the health field (by attuning specific frequencies to their corresponding organs, chakras and zones of the body), automotives and especially VR which will be taking the world by storm over the next few decades. Physical Audio is the missing link between what we see in VR vs. what we HEAR and FEEL.

What excited you about the Feel SUBPAC project?
SUBPAC enables users to feel frequencies below the human hearing range, cycles you can actually count as they pass through your body. It also highlights the relationship between the kick and sub-bass, in a frequency range where more is less. There should ideally only be one or two elements driving your sub and thanks to the SUBPAC, dialing this balance is now achievable without overly relying on analyzers and guesswork. FeelBass opens up the audio spectrum beyond what humans can hear and adds entire octaves to music that were never accessible by anything but elephants, earthquakes and thunderstorms.

About Eko Zu:

EKO ZU bio (short) EKO ZU is a musical trio of the melody weaver Zu’ri, nimble songstress Zu’CH3N, and frequency shaper Zu’Ian. Discovered on Eko Isle, a little- known deserted island in the Mariana Archipelago, they are the only known example of Animal-Human hybrid evolution.

On mastering the mystic songs of the Pacifc, protecting the island from hoards of poachers, and learning the tongue of every beast in the Jungle, Eko Isle accepted them as her own. The ritual took 155 days; their physiques were transformed into hybrid creatures; they claim to have no memory of the process, or have kept the island’s secret. Read More...

EKO ZU is known for exhibiting characteristic animal quirks, translating household pets for their human friends, in endless pursuit of world peace, equality and colorful balls of Yarn.

In bringing the sounds of the Eko Isle to our spirits, the Zu remind us to connect with the animal world, mother nature, the planet, the green spaces, the love places; to remember our inner ravens; to beat as one with the Heart of the Jungle.
